Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions – European Commission


We are seeking an Epidemiologist to apply for a 2-year Marie Curie-Individual Fellowship to join our team of scientists at the Department of Animal Health. The candidate will work in collaboration with scientists spanning the fields of animal science, genomics, biostatistics, and animal health and support them in ongoing projects for the bio-informatical and/or statistical analysis of their data.


  • Analyze and model structured data of multiple types, including records from animal health surveillance programs, experimental assays and genomic data, using advanced statistical methods and implement required algorithms and software
  • Perform explanatory data analyses, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze data and interpret findings
  • Contribute to the design of experimental assays and the preparation of research grant applications
  • Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions to contribute to scientific publications


  • A PhD degree in epidemiology or biostatistics, preferably in animal health, animal sciences or similar fields
  • Training and experience in big data management, exploitation and usage in the primary sector, including modeling, exploratory statistics and statistical inference
  • Computerized database management and statistical software program skills; experience with R and SAS will be an advantage
  • Experience in bio-informatics or statistics applied to biological data from high throughput sequencing will be an advantage
  • Good level of English
  • Good publication records in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Applicants must not have resided or carried out their career in Spain for more than 36 months in the past 5 years
