Maite Gómez-Sagasti is currently doing her PhD thesis on the phytoremediation of metal contaminated soils, under the supervision of Dr. José M. Becerril (Department of Plant Biology and Ecology, University of the Basque Country) and Dr. Carlos Garbisu (Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, NEIKER-Tecnalia).
She has: (i) a Bachelor of Science in Biology (University of the Basque Country, 2008) and (ii) a Master on Environmental Agrobiology (University of the Basque Country, 2009).
Her main research interests are: (i) the assessment of the efficiency of metal phytoextraction and phytostabilization processes using plant and microbial biomarkers/bioindicators and (ii) the utilization of microbial molecular tools (cDNA microarrays, PCR-DGGE, real time-PCR, etc.) for the evaluation of soil functioning.
