The projec tis designed to find alternatives to the use of lindane for controlling plagues of potato wireworms. We need to find more environmentally friendly methods of control: new alternative products with less residual effect, less toxicity, greater selectivity and a method to determine whether treatment is needed or not.
The project aims to develop integrated control strategies against ceratopogonid diptera of the Culicoides genus involved in the transmission of bluetongue in the Basque Country.
The project studies the dynamics of populations of the most important species of conifers (Ips sexdentatus, Tomicus piniperda and Tomicus destruens). We aim to define the role of their natural enemies, associated fungi and the resistance of the host plant in controlling the populations of these insects.
The project was designed to clarify the insect species that play a significant role as carriers of the Fusarium circinatum fungus, test the effect of three promising natural compounds for the integrated control of the pheromonal aggregation of the vectors, develop a mathematical model for predicting risks of propagation of the disease based on association frequency data and space-time-meteorological dynamics of the insects involved and develop an interactive I.T. tool for identifying potential vectors of the disease.
The main aim of the study was to compare the diversity of carabids, identify the characteristic species (indicators) of each habitat and study the effects of ecological variables on the composition of carabid species in the different types of woodland.
The project is designed to rationalise the fertilisation of woodland in the Basque Country. Correct on-site management of fertility allows us to contribute towards achieving significant increases in the productivity of forestry plantations. However, this must be attained using an approach that combines sustainability and profitability.
The project is aimed at evaluating and Optimising mechanised forestry taks in the Basque Country. Protection of soil and water quality is one of the baisc objectives of sustainable forestry management. Due to its topogarphy and the extension of productive forestry crops, this is of the utmost importance on the Atlantic-facing slopes of the Basque Country.
The main aim of the project is the characterisation, evaluation and improvement of commercial and local varieties of the main horticultural and extensive varieties suitable for organic farming.
The main aim of the project is to organise and implement a Latin American network for the improvement and transfer of potato technology.
The main aim of the project is the multiplication, characterisation and the establishment of a collection of autochthonous maize varieties from the Basque Country.
